Attractions around Pelling town of Sikkim



Sanga-Choling Monastery
This monastery is one of the oldest in the state, situated on a ridge above Pelling. Built in 1697 A.D., it faces the Pemayangtse Monastery.
Sewaro Rock Garden
This Garden was developed by the tourism department of Sikkim which is now a favourite picnic spot of the local people. It has attractions like gardens, pools, zigzag foot path, swimming pool, viewpoints and cafeteria.
Yuksum
It is the place where the first Chogyal of the kingdom of Sikkim was crowned in 1642. The throne made of stones can be seen here even today and the sacred footprint of Lhatsun Chenpo, lie close to the throne. 2 km uphill from Yuksum is the oldest monastery of Sikkim, Dubdi which has now been declared a National Monument and is protected by the Archaeological Survey of India. Pemayangste Monastery
This is another old monastery of the State originally established by Lhatsun Chempo, one of the revered Lamas who performed the consecration ceremony of the first Chogyal of Sikkim. This ancient monastery belonging to the Nyingma Sect was originally established as a high class monastery for "Pure Monks (Ta-Sang).
